Recently acquired right back Eli Dasa spoke about his first league match with the Yellow-and-Blue, defeating Sakhnin and playing in Europe,
How was your first league match with Maccabi?
I came here to Bloomfield as an opponent many times, but to play here now as a Maccabi player is amazing. We opened the season on the right foot and I felt good. I'm looking forward to this continuing.
Was this your first ever win over Bnei Sakhin?
Yes it was. Since I have been in the league I've never been able to defeat Sakhnin, but I'm not just looking at this. We took 3 very important points today and this will go a long way when we need to collect points later on in the season.
It's just the start of the year and it takes time to jell together. The most important thing in these first first few games is to make sure we pick up wins and continue to gain confidence. If we can do that it will help us all the way through the season.
Is it hard to make the switch from European competition to the Israeli league?
That's the biggest difference for Maccabi over the past few years that will help us out. We have a big rotation of players and every player that may be on the bench or in the stands has the capability to play in every game
Maccabi plays Basel on Tuesday and you've only been with Maccabi for two weeks.
I can't play in the match and it's hard for me to talk about the actual game plan, but the atmosphere in Switzerland was amazing and I'm involved in every aspect. We took home a great result, but we can't rest on our laurels and we aren't looking at ourselves as the favorites. Basel is a very good team and it's great to be part of all of this.
