Maccabi Tel Aviv began the Championship Playoffs with a home defeat to Hapoel Haifa. The club’s defender, Eli Dasa who also scored the Yellow & Blue’s lone goal spoke about the contest:
“The match can be split into two halves. The first half we had many chances and the second half was not as good. Sometimes a one goal lead is just not good enough. That’s not how we wanted to begin the playoffs but that’s what it is. There are another 27 points left in the bank and we will have to fight for everything.”
More about the club’s current situation:
“This sums up our season as we like to put ourselves into trouble and then come back. We’re still in the race and we will do everything we can to move forward. There’s not much to say, we have to improve the things that need work.”
About the other title contenders:
“We took it into account and it’s hard for me to believe that one single club will win all of their matches. Other teams will certainly have some issues along the way and I hope that we won’t be one of them. We have to do what we need to.”
His own play:
“If the team didn’t win, then I didn’t do anything. I won’t even remember that I scored a goal if we lose. I hope that we will be able to convert the upcoming contests into victories.”
The Championship battle:
“Sometimes it’s better to keep quiet and do what we need to.”
