Zahavi who scored a second half brace on the way to a 3-2 victory over Hapoel Umm al-Fahm in the State Cup summed up the night.

“Cup ties are always an introduction to tough matches” Zahavi said. “Tonight was no different as we conceded and the second goal caught us by complete surprise to leave us chasing the game. Umm al Fahm gave everything were well positioned on the pitch and deserve credit for that. It was a tough match and I am delighted we managed to come back, show character as the most important thing in the Cup is to advance and win”.

On the leadership he showed in the second half, Zahavi added: “We understood we need to lift ourselves. In the first half we lost most of the duals and knew we need to bounce back and start winning them. We shouldn’t be naieve. This is the Maccabi Tel Aviv which we need yo see and we did that together with a lot of character”
