Maccabi's U16s secured their first victory in three league outings
After a draw and a loss in their first two matches of the 2012/13 season in the nationwide U16 Southern District League, Maccabi Tel Aviv's Under-16s secured all three points after a 2-3 away win against Hapoel Ramat Gan. Head coach Eliezer Ben Aharon's side conceded an early goal nine minutes in but came back with two of their own before the half-time whistle, courtesy of Raz Yitzhak just past the quarter hour mark and Eylon Yerushalmi ten minutes later. Yitzhak, who also plays for the club's Under-17s where he has already scored his first league goal, scored his second six minutes after the restart and while Ramat Gan succeeded in pulling one back Maccabi Tel Aviv "Eli Fuchs" held out for the win to bring their total to four points in three league outings.
Next Saturday the Under-16s will have their work cut out when they host Ashdod FC, who have won all three of their league matches to date. Next week will also see the return of the club's Under-17s from an international break when they too will face opposition from Ashdod in a tough away encounter. Another Youth Division side to be in action in Ashdod next week will be the club's Under-15 Team 2, where they will play their opening match of the season. The Under-15 Team 1, Maccabi Tel Aviv "Eldad", will open their season a week later.
