Ignacio Fideleff, who received his Israeli I.D., today joined his new Maccabi Tel Aviv teammates for a light training at the Kiryat Shalom training grounds
Ignacio Fideleff landed in Israel this afternoon and completed his citizenship procedure after receiving his Israeli I.D. card at Ben Gurion Airport. Following negotiations with Italian side Napoli, he agreed a one-and-a-half season long loan deal and will wear the number 39 jersey.
Fideleff, the 23-year-old defender born to Jewish parents of Russian origin in Argentina, successfully underwent a medical at Maccabi last week. He had this to say to the official Maccabi website: "Before even signing my contract I was already excited about becoming an Israeli citizen. I very much hope to succeed at Maccabi Tel Aviv and pay back the faith that has been shown in me. At the same time I hope to honourably represent the Jewish community of Rosario in Argentina where I was born."
Until 2011, Fideleff played for the club where he started in the youth system, Nivales Old Boys. As a first team player he made 35 appearances and scored three goals before being bought by Napoli at the start of the 2011/12 season. He made four league appearances for the illustrious Italian side before being sent out on loan to Parma at the beginning of this season.
