Last night Nigeria goalkeeper and skipper, Maccabi Tel Aviv's own Vincent Enyeama, raised the Cup in Johannesburg as he lead his "Super Eagles" to a 1-0 victory over Burkina Fasso in the final of the African Cup of Nations

Maccabi Tel Aviv and Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama joined his "Super Eagles" teammates in lifting the cup after a superb 40th minute goal by competition star Sunday Mba gave Nigeria a 1-0 victory over Burkina Fasso in last night's final of the African Cup of Nations in Johannesburg, South Africa. Speaking to the official Maccabi Tel Aviv website directly from the Nigerian camp in South Africa, Enyeama had this to say about the experience: "Winning the African Cup of Nations for your country is an unimaginable experience. Who could possibly ask for more? Words simply cannot express the feeling in the camp right now. And for me, to win the trophy in South Africa where I played  in the 2010 World Cup, it's even more special."

The goalkeeper continued: "This is by far the happiest and proudest moment in my career. From here we go on to Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria, to celebrate this triumph with our fans back home. I'm sure our fans in Tel Aviv are happy for me and I'd like to thank the whole club for their support – the coaches, the players, the medical staff and the management. Tonight's the derby against Hapoel Tel Aviv and I'm sure the players are going to give the fans something to celebrate. Next up for me is to win the National Cup and the championship in Israel. If we can do that, this will be an especially successful season for me."

The African Cup of Nations, which began three weeks ago, saw Nigeria play Burkina Fasso in their opening group stage match, a game that ended in a 1-1 draw. After a further draw against Zambia, Nigeria beat their third group partner Ethiopia 2-0 and advanced to the quarter finals as second in their group. In those quarter finals, Nigeria beat one of the tournament favourites Ivory Coast 2-1 and advanced to the finals after thrashing Mali 4-1 in the semi-finals.

Vincent Enyeama is expected to return to Israel later in the week.
