Defender Eitan Tibi's first-half goal was his first as a Maccabi player and his first premiere league goal since the last round of the 2008/9 season. The squad have a well deserved day off after victory at Bnei Sakhnin
Maccabi Tel Aviv yesterday beat Bnei Sakhnin 0-3 at the Doha Stadium, with Eitan Tibi (his first in a yellow jersey), Rade Prica (his fourth) and Maharan Radi (against his former club) contributing the goals on 20, 60 and 81 minutes respectively. The team have been given two well deserved days off but will return to training on Tuesday.
Head coach Oscar Garcia said at the end of the match: "We knew after the second goal that it would be easier for us, but it's never an easy match for us here. We had to work very hard from the very first moment to the very last and I that's exactly what we did. A good team, a big club, has to make that turnaround from a loss on Wednesday to tonight's match. We're trying to build a club for the next five, six years. A club that will remain strong in the years to come."
Rade Prica spoke about the match and what the team can learn from it: "It was a difficult match played on a difficult pitch against a side fighting for their lives in the league. It was important for us to bounce back from the disappointment of the Cup loss and show the kind of superiority that got us the win. That being said, we still have to learn to kill off matches like these at an earlier stage of the game because we saw that after the second goal it got a lot easier for us."
Defender Eitan Tibi summed up his feelings and the match: "I've been getting up there for set pieces and looking for opportunities all season and I'm happy that finally I scored and helped the side to win the match. This win was another important step towards our final goal but now I've already moved on to the match against Beitar Jerusalem and I hope that that this we'll beat them for the first time this season."
