Maccabi Tel Aviv's Spanish defender Carlos Garcia, heading home today for an operation, took leave of his fellow defender Eitan Tibi after the match against Maccabi Haifa and had this to say about his new club: "Next season we'll break all the records"
This morning Maccabi Tel Aviv held a post-match training session after their 2-2 draw against Maccabi Haifa last night at Kiryat Eliezer Stadium. Missing from the practice was defender Carlos Garcia, who boarded a plane directly after the match to fly home to Spain to undergo surgery, in the hope of completing his recuperation in time to join the squad for next season's opening training sessions.
After last night's match, Maccabi Tel Aviv head coach Oscar Garcia had this to say: "Maybe that two goal advantage in the first half gave us the idea that the match was done and dusted, in the second half we wanted to hold possession and try for a third goal, but Maccabi Haifa scored two quick goals and that made it difficult for us. I wasn't out to test any of the players, I just wanted to give an opportunity to some players who hadn't had much time on the pitch of late, to let them improve and demonstrate their abilities".
