Maccabi Tel Aviv head coach Oscar Garcia is preparing his squad for the match against Ironi Kiryat Shmona but still has one eye on the future: "When you have a plan, you go for the championship every season"

This afternoon Maccabi Tel Aviv held their pre-match press conference in the run up to tomorrow night's match at reigning champions Ironi Kiryat Shmona (8.40 P.M.). From there head coach Oscar Garcia and captain Sheran Yeini left straight for a final practice before boarding the coaches that will take the squad to their hotel in the northern border town. "They have good players, a good squad and they're last season's champions so it will not be easy to beat them. But we'll be bringing with us an excellent squad full of confidence that we can win on their home ground too", said Garcia. "It seems to me we've already altered some negative statistics this season by focusing on our matches and that's how we'll be approaching tomorrow's match as well. We're going there to win".

Garcia added: "I came here with the intention of helping the team to improve their results from last season and that's exactly what we've done so far this season. And we've got into this position by focusing on one match at a time. We have confidence, we're not afraid of any club and we'll try to get as many points as we can until the end of the season. Then we'll see where we stand. If you have no vision, no general plan, you're lucky to win a championship once in a decade, but if you do have a plan you can fight for the championship every season for five years running. We want to build a squad for five or ten years. Maccabi should be a big club for their results today and no other reason."

Maccabi captain Sheran Yeini added: "True, we weren't at our best against Maccabi Haifa, but now we're back in shape, we've had the holidays to rest and we're feeling more refreshed. There's no point in apologising for the match against Maccabi Haifa, it's behind us, and Kiryat Shmona is in front of us and that's what's important. Kiryat Shmona is a very good side, we have to be at our best on the pitch, shut down their best players and carve out chances for ourselves. We've established a tradition through our work, whether it's on the field or talking to the press. The whole squad has a good feel to it, we feel very secure and we have to keep it that way. Winning one championship may bring joy but it's staying at the top that's the real work. We're simply much more focused than in previous seasons."
