A heroic comeback was not enough. Maccabi came back from 0-3 to 3-3 but was eliminated from the Champions' League. The drawing for the Europe League Playoff qualifiers will take place this Friday.
This evening, Maccabi Tel Aviv was eliminated from the Champions' League after completing the home game against Basel with a score of 3-3. The team was behind, 0-3 and rallied heroically to 3-3, but this is where the goals ended and the yellow team is not diverting its attention to the Europe League qualifiers.

The game started out very poorly for the yellow team. In Minute 4, a foul against Yeini led to a free kick from the penalty line in which Fabian Schär kept his cool and scored the first away team advantage of 1-0.
After no more than 20 minutes, in Minute 22, Basel scored its second goal when the Egyptian forward, Salah, received the ball easily in the left and rolled the second ball into Juan Pablo's net. The Swiss did not end their scoring streak there and in Minute 31, a hard kick by Diaz took the away team to a promising lead of three goals – putting Bloomfield in shock.
Just when everything seemed lost, the yellow team started with a blitz of their own. In Minute 34, Itzhaki kicked to the guest's goal, Sommer sent it back to Schär who, in turn, scored an own goal and reduced the gap. Two minutes went by and another yellow goal was made – Eran Zahavi fooled the guest's defense and scored a nice goal that took the score to 3-2.

The second half opened with yellow pressure and after ten minutes, Radi received a ball that was thrust away from the Swiss defense and kick a semi-scissors in the air into Sommer's net, marking an impressive comeback.
Just then, the game settled down and Maccabi only had three opportunities in the final minutes – one for Tibi, Garcia and Prica – none of which ended in a goal.
Maccabi Tel Aviv was eliminated from the Champions' League and it will play in the Europe League playoffs. The drawing will take place on Friday.
