Maccabi Tel Aviv FC and Ironi Kiryat Shmona have agreed to the transfer of goalkeeper Guy Haimov as part of the deal that saw midfielder Dan Einbinder join Maccabi Tel Aviv. Haimov, who spent last season on loan at Cypriot First Division side AEK Larnaca, was given the green light by Maccabi to agree personal terms with Ironi Kiryat Shmona. Haimov rose through the ranks of the youth system at Maccabi Tel Aviv but was unable to hold down a position in the first team. As a result he spent time, between two terms at Maccabi Tel Aviv, at a variety of Israeli clubs, including a loan spell at Hapoel Kfar Saba in the 2006/2007 season as second string goalkeeper making three league appearances. After two seasons at Kfar Saba Haimov moved on to Hakoach Maccabi Ramat Gan, where he became first choice goalkeeper for the first time in his career.
Haimov achieved greater recognition after a particularly good season in 2010/2011 at Ironi Kiryat Shmona, where he made 22 league appearances, won the Toto Cup and got to the semi-finals of the State Cup. In the summer of 2011 he returned to Maccabi Tel Aviv and joined the club in qualifying for the group stage of the Europa League. Last summer he played in just one match, Maccabi Tel Aviv's first round Toto Cup victory over Hapoel Tel Aviv, before going off on loan to play for Israeli head coach Ran Ben Shimon at AEK Larnaca in Cyprus.
