Preparations for the 2013/14 season will get underway today, with team players undergoing their medicals
Players on the Maccabi Tel Aviv squad began their preparations for the new season with the first of two days of medical examinations prior to beginning training in earnest. The examinations took place at the clinic of Dr Yaron Barak, the sports physiologist who is also in charge of the body-building programme at the club. Among the players arriving at the clinic were team captain Sheran Yeini, striker Rade Prica and midfielders Moshe Lugassi and Eran Zahavi, who all underwent tests of the endurance in their legs and exercises involving jumping in place. Tomorrow morning more players will arrive at the clinic for the second set of tests. Sometime tomorrow evening the new Maccabi Tel Aviv head coach, Paulo Sousa, is expected to arrive in Israel.
On Wedneswday morning at 9.30 A.M. the players and their new head coach will get together at the Kiryat Shalom training grounds for their first closed training session. At the beginning of next week, Monday June 24th, Maccabi Tel Aviv will participate in the draw for the qualifying rounds of the Champions League to be held at UEFA headquarters in the Swiss city of Nyon . At that point the club's preparations for next season will enter high gear and on Thursday June 27th the team will fly off to their training camp in the Austrian town of Saalfelden.
