Maccabi Tel Aviv FC have agreed terms with French club Stade de Reims for the transfer of Eliran Atar
Maccabi Tel Aviv FC have agreed terms with the French Ligue 1 outfit Stade de Reims for the transfer of 26 year-old striker Eliran Atar for an undisclosed fee plus 10% of future sale proceeds. Atar, whose 22 league goals in 31 appearances played a pivotal role in Maccabi's championship winning season in 2012/13, scored a total of 53 league goals since joining the club from Bnei Yehuda in the summer of 2010. Atar finished as the club's top goalscorer in each of his three seasons at Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Sports Director Jordi Cruyff told the clubs' website: "It was a very difficult decision for us to accept the offer from Stade de Reims due to Eliran's contribution to Maccabi during his three seasons at the club. The substantial improvement Eliran has made over the past 12 months together with his desire to fulfill his dream of playing in a big league made us realise we can't block what is a very good opportunity for him. Maccabi Tel Aviv wish Eliran all the success in the world and will always have their door open to a great Maccabi player of his calibre. On a personal note I must admit to having mixed feelings about this transfer as I am sad on the one hand but proud on the other".
