Four Maccabi Tel Aviv players appeared last night in an international friendly against Ukraine, with Israel on the losing end of a 2-0 result. Defenders Eitan Tibi and Sheran Yeini and midfielders Maharan Radi and Gal Alberman all played in this last warm-up match for the Israeli side that will return to official World Cup 2014 qualifying duty at the beginning of next month. In a match held in a pouring rain at the Olympic Stadium in Kiev with a capacity of around 70,000, Israel conceded goals on either side of half time to midfielder Ruslan Rotan and striker Yevhen Seleznyov, and left the pitch empty-handed.
Eitan Tibi, making his twelfth appearance for the national side, opened the match in central defence and played 84 minutes. Sheran Yeini, in his fourth cap, started in the centre of the midfield and was substituted at half time. Maharan Radi made his seventh appearance from the substitute's bench at half time, as did veteran Gal Alberman, who celebrated his 34th appearance for the national side. All four will return to club training sometime during the week-end, as will young midfielder Dor Micha and goalkeeper Barak Levi, who played for the Israeli Under-21s on Tuesday in Belgium.
