Maccabi Tel Aviv head coach Paulo Sousa is already looking ahead to Thursday's Europa League match against Eintracht Frankfurt: "We'll endeavour to represent Israeli football with dignity"

In his post-match comments, Maccabi Tel Aviv head coach Paulo Sousa first expressed his admiration for his opponents: "Congratulations to Hapoel Beer Sheva on their victory tonight, either side could have won, it could easily have been us. We had enough opportunities to finish off the match, but it was our adversaries that took better advantage of the errors made on both sides so they earned those congratulations". As for the claims that the goal from Beer Sheva striker Elyaniv Barda was scored from an offside position, Sousa said: "You will never hear me blame the referee, certainly not in public, never ever".

Sousa continued: "I wasn't at all surprised by Beer Sheva's ability, I know what they're worth, that's why they're battling for their place high in the table. In future we'll simply have to make sure we take better advantage of the chances we get because we had the chances to win the match, in particular at key moments in the match we had the chance to go ahead but we didn't score and our rivals did exploit those chances so they deserve the praise". About the upcoming Europa League match against Frankfurt in three days' time, Sousa added: "I only hope we can recover quickly, it won't be easy, especially after losing there's a psychological element as well, but we'll do our best to recuperate and try to represent Israeli football with dignity".
