The Maccabi Tel Aviv squad underwent fitness checks at a practice held without players on international duty
Two days after their victory over Maccabi Netanya, the Maccabi Tel Aviv squad held a morning practice during which squad members underwent fitness tests and medical examinations. Missing at the practice were the eight Maccabi Tel Aviv players on international duty, four of them – defenders Yoav Ziv and Eytan Tibi and midfielders Gal Alberman and Mahran Radi (his first cap) – with the national side in Azerbaijan for Israel's first qualifier for the 2014 World Cup. A further three Maccabi players – defenders Igal Biton and Omer Vered and striker Munas Dabbur – are spending eight days in Austria at a training camp for Israel's Under-21s in preparation for the qualifying rounds of the European Under-21 championships to be held in Israel this summer. The team's Nigerian goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama, is also off on international duty as his national side prepare for their 2013 African Cup of Nations qualifying match on Saturday against Liberia.
