The outcome of the derby between yellow Maccabi and red Hapoel was determined by a lone goal by Eran Zahavi, and once again – Tel Aviv goes yellow
Monday's celebrations at Bloomfield Stadium ended with Maccabi Tel Aviv's fourth consecutive derby win and crowned a week of football that harvested the club a glorious nine points in all. Fans that followed the team from the freezing cold against Beitar at "Teddy" Stadium in Jerusalem, to the pouring rain at Bloomfield against Bordeaux, and finally to the fiercely contested derby, were ultimately rewarded with a winning penalty courtesy of star Maccabi midfielder Eran Zahavi.
Before the team turn to their preparations for the second round of thirteen Israel Premier League encounters with a home tie on Saturday against Hapoel Acre, a moment's respite to savour once again Maccabi's latest triumph. Did we say "once again"? This match summary is surely a gift that will keep on giving.
