Maccabi Tel Aviv midfielder Dan Einbinder chatted with fans at the club's official Facebook page
After a morning practice with the rest of the Maccabi Tel Aviv squad, midfielder Dan Einbinder came to the studio for a live chat with fans on the club's official Facebook page. Einbinder answered all of the fans' questions and afforded them an opportunity to take a peek inside the Maccabi Tel Aviv dressing room. "What's great about Maccabi is that there isn't just one team leader but many, like (team captain) Sheran Yeini, Carlos (Gracia), (Gal) Alberman, Yoav Ziv and Eran Zahavi," Einbinder said. "Of course Eran deserves all the compliments for the fantastic season he's having, but the loss (to injury) of Barak (Itzhaki) has had its effect both on and off the pitch because he's such an important part of the squad. In short, it's great to be here at Israel's biggest club with Israel's greatest fans".
"They asked me if I would ever return to Beitar Jerusalem and I answered maybe in future if that's the direction things go, because that's where my roots are, but I enjoy it a lot more at Maccabi and this is where I see my future. I know there are expectations here, I expect a lot of myself and I hope to make good on them too. I've been feeling better and better as the season goes along and I've become more confident too and I feel like I'm able to perform at my best. Here at Maccabi there a very good players and a great playing staff and I'm learning a lot from them. And the competition for places on the squad brings out the best in me".
Many of the fan's questions were about the title race with Hapoel Beer Sheva and Einbinder gave his take on events that occurred after the final whistle of last Monday's victory over the Israel Premier League's second-in-command: "We were very happy, we got all that energy and joy out of our systems on the pitch together with the fans and by the time we got to the dressing room, all we wanted to do was take a shower and go to bed. They (Beer Sheva) are having a great season, winning the way a team going for the title would and they deserve all the credit for that, but we've been doing a lot of winning ourselves. There are still 24 points left to play for so this is no time to be taking our foot off the gas".
Not totally unexpected, but towards the end Einbinder too was asked these chat sessions' most popular question: "Yes, I'm looking forward to my first goal as a Maccabi player, but I also believe it will happen when the right moment comes. It's something I'd like to improve on, scoring goals and setting others up. But when I do, they'll be no copying Eran Zahavi's pistol shots in my celebration. Thank god will be enough for me".
