Gael Margulies, who scored 16 goals for the U19s last season, has joined the squad of head coach Oscar Garcia. Sports director Jordi Cruyf: "We are delighted to keep excellent talent at the club"
This morning eighteen year-old Gael Margulies signed a five-year deal at Maccabi Tel Aviv. Margulies told the official Maccabi website: "I'm happy that I signed a contract that will keep me for the next five years at the club where I got started. For someone who joined Maccabi Tel Aviv at the age of 9, it is a great honour and privilege to be part of the senior squad and I am looking forward to the beginning of training".
Following the signing, MTA sports director Jordi Cruyff said: "We are delighted to keep excellent talent at the club. We look forward to working with him and monitoring his progress".
Margulies, a product of Maccabi's youth setup, was advanced at the age of 16 to the Under-19s in the 2010/11 season and contributed four league goals to the league and Cup-winning side.
At the age of 17, Margulies made his senior debut appearance as a late substitute on the final day of the season and won a penalty during Maccabi Tel Aviv's 4-1 victory over Maccabi Netanya. Last season, the powerful forward became a pivotal factor in the Under-19s' defence of their league title, scoring 16 goals in 27 appearances.
