SC Wiener Neustadt, SK Sturm Graz and SC Weiz will be Maccabi Tel Aviv's rivals during their summer training camp in Austria
Preparations for Maccabi Tel Aviv's 2014/15 season get underway next week when after two days of medical examinations squad members return to practice at the club's Kiryat Shalom training complex on Wednesday June 18th. A little over a week later, on June 27th, the reigning Israel Premier League champions will head off to their training camp, this year to be held near the Austrian city of Graz. During their stay, Maccabi will play four friendly matches against local rivals, the first of which a day after landing in Austria against SC Weiz of Austrian third-tier Regional League Central. The second friendly will take place on July first against SC Wiener Neustadt, who finished last season eighth in the Austrian top-tier Bundesliga. Three days later Maccabi will face SK Sturm Graz, who won the Bundesliga title in 2011 but only managed a fifth-place finish in the 2013/14 season. The team are scheduled to play a fourth friendly against a team yet to be determined on Sunday July 6th. The team will then return to Israel and on the 15th/16th of July the Israeli champions will begin their season 2014/15 European campaign in the second qualifying round of the Champions League. The draw for those encounters will be held on June 23rd.
