"Obviously tonight we're extremely disappointed that Maccabi Tel Aviv has been involved in a derby match that's been abandoned. This club will not tolerate anti-social behaviour, will not tolerate violence. We came here tonight as the away team, we expect that the safety of our players is paramount, and obviously we cannot accept a player of Maccabi Tel Aviv being attacked on the field of play. Anyone who watches the video will see that Zahavi was under extreme pressure, we just cannot accept that that kind of behaviour exists in football. This club will most certainly make representations with regards to our players' safety. For Israeli football it's very very disappointing, the highlight of the footballing calendar. Nobody likes to see scenes of football like this anywhere in the world.

"Zahavi celebrated before as many footballers do all across the world and when you score goals, especially in derby matches, no matter what sort of celebration occurs, it does not allow anybody to enter the field of play and show acts of violence in sports, whether it's football or any other sport. The safety of our fans is paramount tonight and in tonight's decision the referee and the police decided the match should be abandoned. Ourselves and Hapoel Tel Aviv fully supported that and I only hope tonight the fans going home realise that Maccabi Tel Aviv is extremely disappointed, as they are, that we couldn't finish the derby the way we should have. I leave tonight very very disappointed but I also leave tonight deeply concerned that we came here as the away team, a player of Maccabi Tel Aviv was attacked, it shouldn't be allowed to happen and obviously now there will be repercussions that we'll respond accordingly to".
