Striker Eden Ben Basat reacted to the overwhelming support shown by Maccabi fans during the 3-3 draw at Netanya: "It's very important to all of us out on the pitch"
For a player in the front line of attack, a match like Maccabi Tel Aviv's 3-3 draw last night against Maccabi Netanya is a dream come true – non-stop action, balls whistling into the box from all angles. And one of those balls, sent in by midfielder Gal Alberman, landed right on the foot of Eden Ben Basat charging down the left just ahead of his marker and the 28 year-old striker volleyed in to bring his side level early in the second half. But despite the elegance of his sixth goal of the current season, Ben Basat's first thoughts after the match were about the disappointing result: "It was a great match but of course we wanted to win it. Twice we came back from a goal down, first at 1-0 and then at 2-1, we even lead at one point. I suppose you could say we should be grateful for having taken a point from a match like that, even though we could have scored another goal or two towards the end. You have to know how not to lose matches like that too, but right now we're already looking ahead".

Last night's draw put an end to the team's run of six consecutive league victories, plus one in the State Cup, and Ben Basat offered his take on what went wrong: "I think we weren't moving the ball as well as we usually do, maybe the pitch conditions made it harder. But Maccabi Netanya were pressing hard, a very high work rate from a good club in a run of good form. And like I said, you have to know how not to lose games like that, take your point and move on. It's not like we're depressed about it or anything, we're all looking ahead to the Cup tie we have on Wednesday, which is going to be very difficult and very important".
Ben Basat was keen to add a few words about the thousands of Maccabi supporters who came to see the match in Netanya last night: "Hats off to all our fans. They're always there cheering us on, no matter what the result, no matter what the venue, and that's very important to all of us out on the pitch. We need that support, and hopefully together we'll make this season the best we possibly can".
