Ahead of Saturday night's encounter at Bloomfield with Bnei Sakhnin, centre half Eytan Tibi explains that Maccabi are a team that believe in themselves: "We have our ups and downs, but we know the way"
While Maccabi remain at the top of the Israeli Premier league table by a slim one-point margin, the team are still keen on returning to winning ways after three league outings without a victory. After last night's draw against Ironi Kiryat Shmona in the Cup, the squad returned to training ahead of their forthcoming league tie against Bnei Sakhnin at Bloomfield Stadium on Saturday at 7.20pm. Speaking to the official Maccabi website, team defender Eytan Tibi explained the importance of the match: "The game on Saturday is extremely important and we have to show character, which is exactly what this team have. We've demonstrated that throughout the season and in previous seasons as well and I'm confident we'll show that character on Saturday too".

Maccabi have been struggling a bit of late, but the veteran centre back says it's not affecting the players one bit: "Inside we all believe in one another to the limit and that's crucial for a football club and especially for the situation we're in right now. I think people are going overboard with what's happening at Maccabi at the moment and are just trying to grab headlines at the expense of the club and the team".
"Maccabi Tel Aviv are a strong club who can cope with things like that and won't be affected by things that are said outside. We know what we're worth and how we perform on the pitch. We have our ups and downs, but we know the way and that way won't change, no matter what people say or how they talk. So far we're concerned, that's the most important thing right now".
Including last night's Cup tie, three of Maccabi's four winless outings were on the road. On Saturday the team will return to the supportive atmosphere at Bloomfield: "No disputing that our fans are the most important thing for us, their presence is magic no matter where we play and they're behind us through thick and thin. They've never disappointed us and I'm sure on Saturday they'll be out there as always spurring us on".
