Maccabi Tel Aviv suffered a loss after ten undefeated league games. The 0-3 loss to Beitar Jerusalem arrived after last week’s heights of winning the league and the State Cup.
Maccabi found themselves in an early deficit with only five minutes on the clock. An error by Juan Pablo allowed Lidor Cohen to score from a close range. Maccabi’s first attempt on goal came at the 26th minute when Maharan Radi’s long-range attempt went over the crossbar. Maccabi conceded the second goal on the 36th minute after another defensive error by Omri Ben Harush. This time Hanan Maman enjoyed the scraps and gave Beitar a comfortable halftime lead.
Half time result was 0:2 to Beitar Jerusalem.
Maccabi was more energetic at the start of the second half and created several goal scoring opportunities, however Beitar’s keeper Boris Klaiman, saved his team and managed to keep a clean sheet.
Coach Pako made a double substitution at the 57th minute, replacing Rade Prica and Omri Ben Harush for Barak Badash and Gilli Vermouth. The changes did not help Pako’s team and Maccabi allowed the third goal at the 90th minute after Itzik Cohen finished a great counter attack.
The referee blew the final whistle shortly after, sealing the games result 0:3 to Beitar Jerusalem.
