It wasn’t easy, but after a difficult 90 minutes, Maccabi Tel Aviv completed the long mission and officially won the 201415 Championship after beating Ironi Kiryat Shmona 2:1 in front of a full Bloomfield Stadium.
Maccabi did not enjoy the best of starts and allowed Kiryat Shmona to take an early advantage. Roi Kehat scored first at the 11th minute after a deflected corner by Ofir Mizrahi made its way to the midfielder, who was free to score from inside the box and gave northerners an early lead. Maccabi’s Nosa Igiebor suffered from an injury and was replaced by Dan Einbinder at the 20th minute. Rade Prica was booked at the 32nd minute but the Swede forward would make his mark shortly before halftime. At the 44th minute Yoav Ziv found Prica with a great cross from the left wing. The forward headed the ball into the net and leveled the score 1-1.
Tal Ben Haim was close to give Maccabi the lead at the 50th minute after a great run, however visiting keeper Haimov stopped the winger’s attempt. Maccabi suffered from another injured player at the 54th minute when defender Eitan Tibi was replaced by Yuval Shpungin. Maccabi took the lead at the 64th minute. A great play between Dor Micha and Tal Ben Haim ended when the winger’s shot was deflected straight to Maharan Radi who scored to give Maccabi the precious lead that sealed the game’s result 2-1 to Maccabi.
