Twenty four years ago this week, one of Maccabi Tel Aviv's youth players who hadn't even turned 18 began his senior squad career. Gadi Brumer made his debut under coach Tzvika Rosen in the last match of the 1990/91 season against Hapoel Petach Tikva. The yellow-and-blue may have lost the game 1:2, however one of the club's greatest central defenders graced the pitch for the first time and as they say the rest is history!
Together with his twin brother Alon, the Brumer siblings played nine years together and are considered amongst the best to ever pull on the Maccabi kit. Spending 14 years with the club, Gady had the opportunity to play his whole career with Maccabi and won four league titles, four State Cups and two Toto Cups.
He now works for Maccabi's youth department and this past season was the assistant coach for the Under-17 Maccabi "Oded" Tel Aviv side who won the State Cup. This coming year Gadi will help out with the Under-13's and will also be an assistant coach for the Under-16 Maccabi "Eli Fuchs" Tel Aviv team.
