Just two weeks after Maccabi Tel Aviv begins their season with the UEFA Champions League second round qualifying matches against Maltese side Hibernians FC, the Yellow-and-Blue will start their Israeli campaign with Toto Cup games in August. Maccabi will attempt to defend the Toto Cup crown beginning on August 1st as they have been placed into Group C of the competition together with Hapoel Tel Aviv, Bnei Yehuda and Maccabi Petach Tikva.
The Groups are put together geographically as Maccabi will play two derbies and Petach Tikva, with games tentatively scheduled for 1/8, 8/8 & 16-17/8.
Last year Maccabi won their first title of the Treble year going undefeated in this tournament by beating Maccabi Netanya, Hapoel Raanana, Hapoel Tel Aviv, Hapoel Petach Tikva and Maccabi Haifa in the championship match at the Netanya Stadium.
