One of the most important matches that Maccabi Tel Aviv has played in years will take place tomorrow, Tuesday 21:45 at Bloomfield Stadium when the Yellow-and-Blue take on FC Basel in the return leg of the UEFA Champions League Playoff Round. One of the standout of players for the Swiss champions is no doubt the 18-year old sensation, Breel Embolo who scored the club’s second goal.
Right before Maccabi’s opponent began preparations for the return leg in Tel Aviv, Basel’s young striker spoke about the match that just took place, the upcoming one and of course Eran Zahavi.
“Maccabi is a very good club and it was a tough match here in Basel. They played very intelligently and we are not happy with this home result. We have a second chance in Tel Aviv to make amends.”
Embolo was impressed with Maccabi’s captain:
“Zahavi is an excellent player. The last time he played against us he did very well and we’ll have to prepare for him better for the upcoming match. Of course we prepared for the whole team but sometimes there is an individual player that is worth defending more closely. Zahavi is a fantastic player but there are others including Tal Ben Chaim who is also a very quick.”
In regards to the return leg on Tuesday at Bloomfield:
“We know that the atmosphere at Bloomfield is amazing. Paulo Sousa used to tell us about how incredible the Tel Aviv stadium is. We’re happy to come and play and we hope that is we will come away with a good result for us and for our supporters.”
On the praise Embolo received from the Maccabi players:
“The Maccabi players are also great. It’s important for me to enjoy the game.”
