Maccabi Tel Aviv central defender Tal Ben Haim is playing for the first time in the Champions League Group Stages. After the loss to Porto on Matchday Three, he sums up the campaign so far:

“We knew it wasn’t going to be easy. Today we played some quality football in the first half and had a bunch of opportunities close to their goal. Unfortunately we didn’t score but in general if we were disappointed in our play away at Porto then we have seen some improvement.”

On the mood after the match

“We were upset with the result in the lockerroom, and we did have a good first thirty minutes but the goal changed up our plan a bit and when you play at this level mistakes will happen.”

Looking ahead:

“We come to play every game and again we had some good chances and sometimes you need a bit of luck that we didn’t have today. I hope that in the next match we will be able to take some points. If you don’t win then we all have room to improve and if we want to get some good results then everyone one of us has to give a bit more and more than the Israeli League which is good but nowhere near the Champions League.”
