Eran Zahavi, a central component of the Israel National Team is getting ready to face Cyprus on Saturday night, 21:45 in Jerusalem at Teddy Stadium and away at Belgium on Tuesday as the Blue-and-White looks to qualify for the playoffs of the Euro 2016 tournament to be held in France. Maccabi’s number 7 talks about playing in so many matches, the upcoming game with Cyprus and participating in a number of tournaments at the same time:
You’ve had a lot of important matches and now you’re playing with the National Team:
“Yes it’s been a very busy time with a bunch of matches and we’re getting a bit run down with so many games in a variety of tournaments. But it’s a lot of fun and while there is a lot of pressure, these are money time matches and I hope that I’ll be able to do what I need to to help out.”
Has there been a period of time where you had this many games:
“These are very important games and can have an impact on the future of the game of football both for Maccabi Tel Aviv and for Israel. Of course we want to come into all of these matches in tip top shape but it’s challenging to do so when there are so many that we’re taking part in. It’s good though as other players who need minutes will get a chance to play.”
The thought is that Cyprus is an easy home match:
“Absolutely not. As professional players we can’t listen to what others think about this or that. These are the last two matches of the campaign and we have to be ready as they will be difficult and we need the points. We will let our actions on the pitch speak for themselves.”
You’re playing with a ton of Maccabi teammates on the National Team:
“It’s a blast for sure to be able to play with them and it’s good for Maccabi as we want to have all of the best players on the pitch together. If my teammates are playing with me for Israel that’s great as it can only help the National Team.”
