The Winner League returns to action this weekend and the Maccabi Tel Aviv players are in the midst of preparations for their match against Hapoel Haifa on Saturday at 17:00. Following today’s training session, some of the players including Omri Ben Harush, Eran Zahavi, Carlos Garcia and Nosa Igiebor went to a special photo shoot for HISENSE and took pictures with the electronic goods of the club’s new sponsor that joined the Maccabi family this season.
Nosa Igiebor who returned to action recently, spoke about the club returning to league play following the break, the differences between this year and last season plus his own comeback from injury: “It’s not easy for a footballer to be out for a couple of months especially when I was at my best. It was difficult but I’m happy to be back. I had to sit and cheer my teammates on and it was hard to watch from the stands. The team did a good job without me and they did the best that they could, but most importantly for me is my return to action.”
About the club’s play:
“I don’t agree that we have been playing poorly. At the beginning of last season this was the same situation when we played under Pako and we ended up winning the Treble. People have to understand that we have a new coach, a new system and every training session we are working on new things. It’s not easy to get used to the system and we all have to be patient and see how we develop throughout the year.”
On the amount of games being played this season:
“I can see the pressure of so many games on my teammates. It’s not easy. I don’t have the exact numbers but when we have played 20 games while other teams have only played five or so there is an affect on the team. Last year things were more relaxed because we had a comfortable schedule and this season we are experiencing injuries. We’ll do our best and make the best of our situation.”
The club’s main rival for the championship:
“Right now Beer Sheva is our top rival in the league, but they’re not playing in the Champions League. These past two weeks came at the best possible time and I believe you’ll see the results already this Saturday when we play Hapoel Haifa.”
