The Yellow-and-Blue head coach Slavisa Jokanovic had much praise for his club after the 4:0 win over Tel Aviv rival Bnei Yehuda at the Netanya Stadium. The win puts Maccabi back to the top of the table, two points ahead of Hapoel Beer Sheva. After falling to Chelsea last week in Champiosn League action is was important to get back to league play on the right foot:
“We played a very good game today and had an excellent showing throughout the full 90 minutes. We had a good first half even though we didn’t score as we had many chances but we wanted to watch out for the counterattack and at the end of the second half we scored a bunch of goals.”
About Shlomi Azulay:
“Shlomi is part of my squad and he had some difficulties at the start of the season, but he’s been working hard and a different way. His physical preparation is at a very high level and he has been very important for us the past two games.”
Playing a league game after a Champions League match:
“We’ve had some difficulties the match after the Champions League game but this time we had energy and we were able to do the job.”
On Maccabi’s performance:
“This is definitely how I want to see Maccabi as the players knew how to interpret what I wanted them to do on the pitch.”
