The Michael “Mopi” Danziger Foundation Scholarship ceremony took place this morning at the Spivak Sports Complex in Ramat Gan. This is the third time the ceremony has taken place and was attended by Maccabi Tel Aviv FC CEO Martin Bain along with players Eden Ben Basat and Yuval Shpungin as well as Youth Department Director Nir Levin.
The foundation is named after Supreme Court judge Yoram Danziger’s father and provides outstanding handicapped athletes and players from the Maccabi youth department with scholarships to help them continue to develop their skills. Just prior to the ceremony, Danziger lit the 6th Hanukah candle and immediately afterwards Ran Alias’s Under-15 side played a game of wheelchair basketball against the Ilan: The Israeli Foundation for Handicapped Children youth team.
Martin Bain spoke at the ceremony and said: “This event is equally as important as the Champions League. It’s my honor to represent Maccabi Tel Aviv at this ceremony. In the name of Maccabi Tel Aviv FC I want to say thank you to all those who are taking part in this event today.”
Just before the scholarship presentation, Yoram Danziger said: “It’s exciting to have the Ilan athletes and Maccabi Tel Aviv players here together at this event. The understanding of Ilan’s handicapped athletes will help all players in the future.”
