The first day of the Heemskerk Tournament took place today as Maccabi “Shachar” played two matches. There are two groups of five teams in the competition as each team in their group will play each other once. Following the round robin, the first place teams of each group will play each other as will the second place, third place etc…
Ori Uzan’s squad played Lech Poznan in their first contest where every game in the competition is 50-minutes split into two halves of 25 minutes each. Maccabi “Shachar” won this matchup in the final minutes of the game as Eylon Almog sent Guy Shetach a beautiful pass and put the ball behind the keeper to pick up the victory.
Two hours later, Uzan’s club played Odense from Denmark and took an early lead thanks to Eylon Almog who beat the Danish keeper one-on-one to give the Yellow & Blue a 1:0 advantage. However, Odense scored near the end of the game as they put the ball into Hen Ozeri’s goal to salvage a 1:1 draw.
Tomorrow, Maccabi “Shachar” will play Dutch side Feyenoord at 11:00 and will then face Spartak Rotterdam at 13:00 while at 15:00 Uzan’s team will play their counterpart from the other group.
