The Under-15 North side of Amir Sofer faced Hapoel Haifa on Matchday Five in league action. Prior to the opening whistle, the Club was officially named Maccabi “Ilan” in memory of the late St.-Sgt. Ilan Sviatkovsky z”l who fell in battle in the Gaza Strip at the age of 21.
Ilan was a huge Maccabi fan who attended almost every match at Bloomfield Stadium. This morning, with his family present the Club honored his memory, naming the Under-15 team after him. Ilan’s father Peter and brother Eric along with his friends participated in a moving ceremony to honor his memory.
Maccabi Tel Aviv FC would like to acknowledge the Sviatkovsky family and note that we are proud to be able to honor the memory of Ilan z”l.
