Following a 3:2 win over Andorra in the first match of the European Championship qualifying competition, the Israel Under-19 squad defeated Lichtenstein 5:0 as three Maccabi “Shachar” Tel Aviv players featured in Head Coach Alon Hazan’s Starting XI. Tomer Altman, Eylon Almog and Fadi Najar along with loaned keeper Haviv Ohayon opened the match for the young Blue & White team while Bar Galili was available on the bench.
Anas Mahmid of Hapoel Tel Aviv began the goal barrage scoring with the help of an assist by Najar who sent the striker a perfect cross. In the 28th minute Eylon Almog, one of the usual goal scorers turned playmaker allowing Tomer Altman the chance to head the ball into the goal for a 2:0 lead.
Almog again helped Israel on its third goal as his left side dribble led to Mahmid’s second goal of the match. After the club’s 4th goal, Najar scored one of his own in the 73rd minute giving the Under-19’s a solid 5:0 win.
With the two victories, the Blue & White advanced to the Elite Stage which will take place in the spring of 2017. On Sunday, Israel will face Scotland in the final game of the tournament.
