The woman that worked there would mark down everything and then one day she said I couldn’t buy anymore. I thought my life was over and I was done. My mother came and paid. She was very angry at me.”
How was the Passover Seder?
“I remember how the kids all wanted to skip through to get to the food and the adults wouldn’t let us. The fun would begin when we got near the end and we sang “Who knows one?” Meat with cream of mushroom sauce was made just on Passover, so everyone waited for it. There was also Matzo Ball Soup. I’m Ashkenazi. I didn’t really like Gefilte Fish but I really liked Matzo Ball Soup and Matzo Brei.”
