Nahmias was born in 1935 in the city of Tel Aviv and began playing competitive football at the age of 16 when he arrived at Maccabi Tel Aviv. Jerry Beit HaLevi, the Club’s coach at the beginning of the 1950’s promoted Nahmias to the senior side, but it was Ga’ull Mechlin who gave him his debut.
Nahmias started his only match of 1951/52 season which ended in the Yellow & Blue winning the league title in a 1:1 Derby draw. The next season Nahmias played was the 1953/54 campaign where he battled for an attacking role against some of the generation’s biggest stars including Sheya Glazer, Tzvi Stodinski and Yosele Merimovitch.
Though he didn’t play much that season, Nahmias won two titles as Maccabi Tel Aviv captured the Double. The following season, he featured much more and was an integral part of the squad as they won the State Cup with Nahmias scoring a goal in the 3:1 victory over Maccabi Petah Tikva in the final. Just like the other stars of the 1950’s who earned the title of the “Golden Generation” of Maccabi Tel Aviv, Nahmias also shined in his performances abroad.
His contribution on the offensive end of the pitch began to bear fruits during the 1955/56 campaign when Nahmias picked up another league title. Scoring 7 goals in 24 matches, he also found the back of the goal in a 3:0 Derby victory over Hapoel Tel Aviv. His best season came in 1957/58 when he scored 10 goals in 20 matches as Maccabi picked up yet another Double. Nahmias won 4 league championships and 5 State Cups over the course of 12 seasons while playing with Maccabi Tel Aviv. After leaving the Yellow & Blue in 1964, Nahmias went on to play and coach at Maccabi Rehovot.
While representing Israel, Nahmias appeared in five matches, most notably the 5:0 loss to the Soviet Union in 1956. He also played in two losses to Wales during the 1958 World Cup campaign along with a 2:1 win over Singapore in the Asia Cup and a 5:4 loss to France in a friendly.
