Jean-Sylvain Babin, 30, has joined Maccabi Tel Aviv FC on a one-year-loan-deal with an option for another season after an agreement has been struck with his Spanish club Sporting de Gijon.
The French born central defender, 181cm, who represents the national team of Martinique, successfully underwent a medical at the club this afternoon completed his registration and will receive the number 5 yellow shirt.
Maccabi’s coach Jordi Cruyff told the club’s official website: “Babin is a solid central defender with a lot of presence and experience who will surely contribute to our team. The fact he spent the last nine seasons playing in Spain gained him a lot of experience which we are sure will help us a lot on both ends of the pitch”.
Babin, made 24 League and Cup appearances scoring one goal for Gijon last season and has been playing in Spain for the last nine seasons with Granada (2014-2016), Alcorcon (2010-2014) and Lucena (2008-2010). He began his playing career at the youth academy of Chateauroux and made his senior debut for the French outfit in 2004.
