The Maccabi Tel Aviv Football Club Foundation launched a brand new weekly football training project in conjunction with Chinuch L’Psagot, Educating for Excellence. The special ceremony was held at the Dizengoff School in the Kiryat Shalom neighborhood of Tel Aviv, which is one of the three centers that also includes Ramle and Netanya that will be holding the program. Club CEO Ben Mansford along with players Aaron Schoenfeld, Matan Baltaxa, Avi Rikan and Eitan Tibi were all present at the event.
Chinuch L’Psagot, Educating for Excellence strives to strengthen the Israeli society by reducing social gaps and creating equal opportunities for children with potential for excellence who live in the country’s social and geographic periphery. The organization has 41 branches around the country.
One of the goals of the Maccabi Tel Aviv Football Club through the Maccabi Foundation is to help nurture the younger generation thanks to contributions that were raised at last season’s Gala Event. The 3 branches that will receive the Maccabi weekly football training sessions will also see the children gain values through sports and of course Maccabi Tel Aviv. In addition, the Club’s players and professional staff will also join the sessions on a periodic basis to help enrich the children as well.
During the launch, Club CEO Ben Mansford spoke to the children about the importance of their connection with Maccabi Tel Aviv: “Maccabi is a professional club, but apart from the results on the pitch, it’s also to see how people connect to Maccabi and sport. We are working together with Chinuch L’Psagot, Educating for Excellence at three centers; Ramle, Netanya and Kiryat Shalom where our coaches conduct the training sessions. It’s worthwhile to take advantage of the program and I hope that the parents, teachers and everyone that is associated with this important project will help contribute to it.”
Liza Koren, VP of Business & Development at Chinuch L’Psagot also talked about the importance of the collaboration and how it will enrich the lives of the children. Following the ceremony which also included three children speaking about the connection to Maccabi Tel Aviv and a medal ceremony, the group was split up into two with half joining Schoenfeld and Rikan and the others with Tibi and Baltaxa for an extra special training session.
