Jordi Cruyff, the Yellow & Blue Head Coach spoke about his side’s goalless draw at Bnei Yehuda on Matchday 20 of the Israel Premier League Ligat Ha’Al:
“I think the team worked hard and Bnei Yehuda was very closed and difficult to breakdown. We said at halftime that these are games that we won’t create clear chances but half chances and we needed score. We had chances but we didn’t score and lost two points.”
About the match itself:
“They had a lot of players behind the ball and we may have played similar systems but we each had 11 players. They were very good on counterattacks, but we played very disciplined defensively and didn’t allow any. The team did well in that aspect counters, but the game was one of half chances and if you want to win you have to score.”
The substitutions:
“Micha is always an offensive player and Ofir is an attacking player. Atar, Aaron (Schoenfeld) and Barak (Itzhaki) played well with two midfielders behind them so we need to play with 3 defenders and speed at the back with everyone else going forward. With players like Hozez, Tchibota and Jonathan (Cohen) on Bnei Yehuda you need a lot of speed in the back and fast people behind.”
Not the optimal result:
“Not the result we wanted to have today and next week is not in my mind. We lost two points and we gave everything. The players were tired the last twenty minutes so the accuracy was gone. But in these game if you have two chances in the first 30 minutes you have to score to win the game.”
