Yuval Shpungin, the Yellow & Blue veteran defender looked back at his squad’s 1:0 loss to Hapoel Raanana on Matchday 23:
“We have to take points in these types of matches especially when we are playing at home in front of our crowd and we didn’t do it. We all ran hard and fought on the pitch and in the second half we looked better and had more chances that we should have converted. There’s no question that we had to win this match.”
Preparing for each opponent:
“We prepare for each opponent differently and the professional staff analyzes them and we then make the changes that we need to. We can’t discount any team like Raanana and they deserve a lot of credit. The stats have shown us that we that we’ve had a tough time against some of the smaller teams.”
Finding a way to win:
“Some matches are easier some harder. We prepared and we had to find a way to win. We worked on it and we had plenty of chances to score.”
Working as a team:
“It’s not just the attacker’s, it’s the whole team and each one of us has to help the other and give each other options. The professional staff works with us on these tactics. It’s clear we didn’t do that enough in the first half and that’s why we didn’t have enough opportunities. We did do that in the second half and had more chances, but we unfortunately we couldn’t take advantage of them.”
