The State of Israel celebrates 70 Years
Dor Independence
It’s been 70 years since the rebirth of the nation, that put an end to thousands of years of yearning by the Jewish People. The entire country will be celebrating, even more than any other year as well as Maccabi Tel Aviv, Israel’s oldest and most decorated club who will also take part in marking the nation’s 70th year of independence. Maccabi Tel Aviv’s history is intertwined with that of Israel’s even before the founding of the state. From the changing of the kit’s color to yellow to stand in solidarity with the Jewish People who were suffering from the horrors of the Holocaust in Europe, until today as the club represents the state, proudly raising the flag of Israel in European competitions.
In an act unique to Israeli Football and in the spirit of the Independence Day celebrations, Maccabi Tel Aviv will wear a special Blue & White match kit representative of the club’s first decades.
The shirt will emphasize the Israel within us, the Maccabi fan. As Israelis, we saw the necessity to work together with an organization that emphasizes the values of the country from the beginning of its days and gives us a glimpse into the complexity of life in Israel and our uniqueness as Israelis – Lochamim L’Chaim. The organization was founded by Ido Gal Razon to help combat soldiers with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) along with their medical and legal challenges as well as other aspects of their every day life.
As part of the cooperation, the club will donate 10 NIS from each shirt sold to Lochamim L’Chaim and prior to the upcoming match against Bnei Yehuda the club will hold a ceremony in conjunction with the organization.
This year, more than ever, we all feel that being part of Maccabi Tel Aviv is being the biggest, greatest, most successful and most Israeli.
