Avi Rikan, the Yellow & Blue midfielder looked back at Maccabi Tel Aviv’s 2:2 draw against Hapoel Haifa at Sammy Ofer Stadium:
“Of course it’s a big disappointment as we already saw the end of the match and the chance to take home the three points. But you have to play 90+ minutes and we came up short over the last few minutes. Despite the disappointment and pain after the match we have to lift ourselves up all together, work hard as we have a number of games left in the season which we have to win.”
Defending against Hapoel Haifa:
“We played Hapoel Haifa a number of times this season and we were aggressive along with controlling the majority of the game. But Hapoel Haifa have shown they play to the final whistle especially versus us and we were down to ten men and we had to all defend against long balls and the like. We’ll pull ourselves together, look at where we erred and contonie on as we have important matches ahead that we need to win.”
Battling for a place in Europe:
“Every match in the Championship Playoffs will be a battle for a European spot and every one will be important. If we would have won today we would have taken a huge step in securing the European spot and third place. We have our goals as do all the other teams and I believe that we will reach them.”
