Itay Shechter signed a two-year-deal at Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Itay Shechter, joined Maccabi Tel Aviv on a free transfer from Beitar Jerusalem where he spent the last couple of seasons scoring 29 goals in 77 matches in all competitions.
he 31-year-old forward told the club’s official website: “I am delighted to have joined such a great club in Maccabi Tel Aviv. As soon as Maccabi approached me, I knew right away that this would be my next club. After being close on so many occasions, I guess that the time has finally come to wear the Yellow and Blue shirt. I have many friends at Maccabi that I have made along the years and I can’t wait to meet them and start working on the training pitch”.
Maccabi’s CEO Ben Mansford added: “I am delighted to announce our first signing of the summer. Itay was available on a free transfer and someone that is a proven goals-corer and an experienced leader. It was important that we moved quickly to secure his signature. Itay has had a prolific last couple of seasons in the goal-scoring and assist charts. As we look to push forward next year, I believe Itay will be a significant signing for the Club through his anticipated contribution on the field and in the dressing room. Shechter made his senior debut at the age of 19 with Hapoel Nazareth Ilit in 2005/6 also played for Maccabi Netanya, Hapoel Tel Aviv, FC Kaiserslautern, Swansea City, Nantes and Maccabi Haifa also scored 5 goals in 27 appearances for the Israel national team.
