Maccabi Tel Aviv will play their first official match of the 2018/19 season on Thursday night (20:00) when Vladan Ivic’s squad visits Ferencvaros in Budapest for Europa League first leg first round qualifying action. Last night, the players and professional staff departed from Ben Gurion airport to Hungary.

Tomorrow, preparations will go into full gear as the Yellow & Blue will hold their final training session and prematch press conference ahead of the contest. Maccabi will begin yet another European campaign after advancing to the Europa League Group Stages the past two seasons by making their way through 4 qualifying rounds each year. The last time the Club played in Hungary was when they met Gyori in their 2013/14 Champions League qualifying campaign, winning 2:0 away and 2:1 at home.

Eli Dasa spoke about the upcoming European tie against Ferencváros:
“Of course it’s exciting as it’s the first official match of the season. It’s not going to be a simple contest, but I hope that we can continue our European tradition from the past this campaign as well.”
Taking advantage of the continental experience gained over the past few seasons:
“I believe that is what helps clubs in European competition and I’m sure we will do what we have to.”
