Maccabi Tel Aviv ended their away encounter with Hapoel Beersheba in a fast-paced 1-1 draw on Wednesday and coach Vladimir Ivic said his charges were the better side and should have scored more goals.
“I feel we deserved more than just a point, we missed so many chances today,” Ivic said.
“We could have scored five or six goals but in the first half we created only two chances and I don’t know what happened to our attack but the second period saw us create many chances to attack,” the Serbian coach added.
Ivic said that despite the dropped points, there were still plenty more games and lots of points on offer and that he was preparing for a close-run race for the title all the way to the end.
Ivic praised the hosts on the night and said they deserved to be taken seriously.
“Hapoel Beersheba are a very good side, they have won three championships in the past five seasons but today we proved that in all departments and if you fail to score you get punished, and that is exactly what happened,” he said.
