Maccabi kicked-off the 2019/20 Play-Off in a situation that was unknown to this stage – an empty Bloomfield stadium and a match behind closed doors. 2018/19: The debut of VAR in Israel
In the first championship winning season of Vladimir Ivic, Maccabi began the Play-Offs with a home game against Hapoel Hadera. The significant change before kick-off at the Netanya stadium was amongst the refereeing team in what was the firstbever league match in Israel to be officiated with VAR – which was effectively used during the game. Goals from Avi Rikan and Aron Shenfeld did the job for the champions to be and a red card was issued for Hadera following the intervention of VAR.
2014/15: Zahavi beats Maccabi Haifa
Finally, take a further leap back in time to the historic treble season. The match which kicked off the Play-Off when Maccabi hosted the Haifaites for an entertaining encounter at Bloomfield that later on became one of the most memorable matches of the final round.
