Matan Baltaxa, who scored his debut goal for Maccabi in last season’s Toto Cup Final, and notched his debut league goal for Maccabi, said: “I think there are excellent players here but it just doesn’t seem to click”.
The 26-year-old added: “There is enough quality here, but for the moment we are struggling to get the results this club deserves”.
Baltaxa, tried explaining how the team failed to capitalise on the numerical advantage they had over Sakhnin, and said: “At halftime we spoke in the dressing room and said we need to kill the game by scoring a goal as early as possible because we knew what to expect. Sadly for all of us it didn’t happen. The way the match continued with these constant stop-starts, does not depend on us as it was clear what they will try to do – but we just fell for that. Obviously this is something that drove the fans mad, and rightly so – but we should have put that to bed earlier”.
