Maccabi Tel Aviv stretched its’ unbeaten league run against Beitar Jerusalem to 12 matches following the victory at Bloomfield stadium last night – 9 victories, and 3 draws. In those 12 matches Maccabi scored 24 goals and conceded only 4 with the same 4-0 result recorded against Beitar on MD5 of the 2019/20 season.

Eran Zahavi’s 83rd minute penalty took his tally to 100 league goals in 123 league matches in Yellow and Blue as the 35-year-old has 131 in all competitions. Zahavi entered an exclusive list of five players who scored 100 goals and more for Maccabi in the league. Avi Nimni (174) leads the chart and he is followed by Shiye Glazer (131), Benny Tabak (121) and Eli Driks (113).

Unsurprisingly, the venue Zahavi likes to score most is Bloomfield stadium (58 league goals). 62 of the 100 goals were scored with his feet, while 26 were scored between the 76th and the 90th minute.

Eyal Golasa’s late goal which sealed the 4-0 victory, made him the 10th player this season to score in the league – a league record for the number of goal scorers after 5 league rounds.

Maccabi is only the 10th club in Israel’s history to begin a league campaign with 3 victories where they won by three or more goal margin. They are also the third club in history to inflict 3 defeats of four goals and more from the opening 5 matches.
